Joe Robbie (1966–1990)

Joe Robbie was the first owner and founder of the Miami Dolphins NFL franchise. The American was an attorney and politician. After following professional football, he took steps to establish a franchise team in the Miami area.

Robbie and Danny Thomas formed a partnership and raised the $7.5 million required to purchase an expansion team.


Wayne Huizenga (1990–2009)

Wayne Huizenga became the second franchise owner of the Miami Dolphins. He was an American businessman and was involved in different ventures.

Wayne Huizenga founded AutoNation and Waste Management, Inc., and later became owner or co-owner of Blockbuster Video, Republic Services, the Florida Panthers of the NHL, and the Miami Marlins (formerly the Florida Marlins) of Major League Baseball (MLB).


Huizenga initially purchased about 15% of the Miami Dolphins and its stadium in Miami Gardens. He later bought the remaining shares of the team for $115 million and became the full owner in 1994.


Stephen M. Ross (2009–present)

Stephen M. Ross initially purchased 50% of the Miami Dolphins, which included the stadium, from the then owner Wayne Huizenga for $550 million in 2008. But a year later, he went on to acquire an additional 45% of the franchise.

The Miami Dolphins plays its home games at the Hard Rock Stadium. It is a multi-purpose stadium hosting American football, tennis, and F1 circuits which are built around it. It has a seating capacity of 64,767 for American football and 14,000 for tennis.


Trophies and Achievements 

The Miami Dolphins is one of the successful teams and has a good record in the NFL, having won the Super Bowl in 1972 (VII) and 1973 (VIII). The team has won over five AFC championships throughout its history and thirteen AFC East divisional titles.


The Miami Dolphins had an outstanding campaign in the 1972 season, which stands as the only perfect season in NFL history with a record of (17-0).
