Is NVIDIA Owned by Microsoft? The straight answer is no. Nvidia is an independent and publicly traded company. Same as Microsoft, which is also publicly traded under the name MSFT. And thus, does not own NVIDIA.

However, Nvidia and Microsoft collaborate in different sectors, which has further increased the relationship between the two companies. Today, the two companies have collaborated in the world of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and enterprise solutions.

Here are some of the key collaborations between Nvidia and Microsoft. 

Azure + NVIDIA GPUs

This is one of the most significant collaborations between the two companies over the years. Microsoft Azure integrates NVIDIA’s cutting-edge GPUs in systems such as the H100 and Grace Blackwell chips.

DGX Cloud on Azure

Another significant collaboration between the two companies is on the DGX Cloud on Azure project. 

DGX, which is owned by NVIDIA, is a platform for training large AI models. The collaboration allows for the integration of Microsoft Fabric in the development of custom AI models using their own data.

Microsoft Copilot

Perhaps one of the most popular AI chatbots, Microsoft Copilot has established itself as one of the most reliable AI chatbots alongside ChatGPT. It uses NVIDIA’s Triton Inference Server to deliver real-time AI predictions to drive platforms such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.

Omniverse Cloud APIs on Azure

Thanks to this collaboration, industrial simulation tools have been made accessible through Microsoft’s cloud for real-time digital twin visualisations.

These collaborations offer a win-win package for both companies in the sense that Nvidia offers its hardware and AI acceleration in conjunction with Microsoft cloud infrastructure and software ecosystem.
