Top 10 best F1 tracks: most famous Formula One circuits

In my quest to know the best F1 tracks, I researched, discovered and ranked the Circuit de Monaco, Silverstone Circuit, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Monza Circuit as the best Formula One circuits.


Find out the detailed explanation of why I choose these circuits, including their location, track length, legendary moments (of course you should know) and other interesting information.


Formula 1 is one of the iconic sports known for its challenging tracks and tense moments for drivers, constructors and fans. Here are the best circuits today.


1. Circuit de Monaco (Monaco)


Well, the Circuit de Monaco, often referred to as "Monte Carlo", is one of the legendary Formula One racing tracks in the world. It is located in Monte Carlo, Monaco, and has a length of 3.337 km (2.074 miles).

Best moment 

One of the best moments in the history of the track was in 1998 when Ayrton Senna dominated the race before crashing late.


The Monte Carlo circuit is known for its tight street circuit, which is quite minimal for overtaking and requires extreme precision.


2. Silverstone Circuit (United Kingdom)


Silverstone Circuit is one of the best, especially for its design and rich history. It is located in Northamptonshire, England, and has a length of 5.891 km (3.661 miles).

Best moment 

As a legendary circuit, it has witnessed some legendary moments. During the 2021 British Grand Prix, the dramatic scene was the moment when Lewis Hamilton won the race despite colliding with Max Verstappen.


Silverstone Circuit is known for its fast corners, which makes it one of the most thrilling circuits in Formula One.


3. Suzuka International Racing Course (Japan)


When it comes to F1, the Suzuka International Racing Course needs an introduction. It is located in Suzuka, Japan, and has a length of 5.807 km (3.608 miles).

Best moment 

The legendary moment has to be in 1989 and 1990, a clash between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost that decided the championship. How did it go between the two drivers? Well, that will be a story for another day.


The Suzuka International Racing Course is known as the only figure-eight circuit in Formula One racing, as it has a high-speed 130R corner.


4. Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium)


The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is another iconic racetrack in the sport. It is located in Stavelot, Belgium, and has a track length of 7.004 km (4.352 miles).


Of course it has recorded its iconic and legendary moment. This was in 1995 when Michael Schumacher produced the masterclass by overtaking multiple cars in wet weather.

The circuit features Eau Rouge and Raidillon, known for being two of the most challenging corners in Formula One racing.


5. Monza Circuit (Italy)


Monza Circuit is also known for its impressive design and atmosphere. It is located in Monza, Italy, and has a length of 5.793 km (3.6 miles).


Monza Circuit's legendary moment was in 2020 when Pierre Gasly recorded his victory while being an underdog.

The Monza Circuit featured long straights and high-speed corners.


6. Circuit of the Americas (United States)


The Circuit of the Americas is one of the best in the sport. It is located in Austin, Texas, USA. It has a length of 5.513 km (3.426 miles).

Here, Lewis Hamilton secured his sixth world title in 2019 while racing through the famous corners from other tracks.


7. Interlagos (Brazil)

It is no secret Interlagos is one of the best race tracks in the sport. It is located in São Paulo, Brazil, with a length of 4.309 km (2.677 miles).

Best moment 

One of the legendary moments at the Interlagos circuit was in 2008 when Lewis Hamilton won the title by overtaking Timo Glock on the final lap.

Interlagos is known for its anticlockwise circuit and elevation changes.


8. Red Bull Ring (Austria)


There is no way the Red Bull Ring will be left out of this list. Located in Spielberg, Austria, it is one of the iconic circuits, designed with a length of 4.318 km (2.683 miles). 

Best moment

Max Verstappen won the 2019 championship by making a comeback victory after overtaking Charles Leclerc in the final laps. The Red Bull Ring features a short but fast circuit, elevation changes and tight corners.


9. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Canada)


Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is another famous sport. It is located in Montreal, Canada, and has a length of 4.361 km (2.709 miles).

Best moment

One of the iconic moments in the history of the circuit was in 2011 when Jenson Button won the Canadian Grand Prix in a very long race and was later declared the longest race in F1 history.

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve features high-speed straights and tight chicanes.


10. Bahrain International Circuit (Bahrain)

And the remaining F1 racetrack on the list of my top 10 best Formula One circuits is the Bahrain International Circuit. It is located in Sakhir, Bahrain, and has a length of 5.412 km (3.363 miles).

Best moments 

Here, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton were locked in an incredible wheel-to-wheel race in 2023.
