Apache County

Apache County was established in 1879 and was named after the Apache people.  

Cochise County

Cochise County was created in 1881 and was named after the leader of the Apache leader Cochise. 

Coconino County 

Coconino County was formed in 1891. It is the largest county in Arizona and has a fascinating featuring especially the Grand Canyon. 

Gila County

Gila County was established in 1881. It's name originated from the Gila River.  

Graham County

Graham County was created in 1881. It is known for its mining history and the presence of Mount Graham.

Greenlee County

Greenlee County formed in 1909. It's name was coined from the pioneer, Mason Greenlee. 

La Paz County

The next county on the list is the La Paz County which is the newest county in Arizona. It was created in 1983.

Maricopa County

Maricopa County was established in 1871 and is the most populous county in Arizona state. It is also the count of Phoenix. 

Mohave County

Mohave County is one of the original counties from 1864.

Navajo County

Navajo County was created in 1895 and named after the Navajo Nation.  

Pima County

Pima County is one of the original counties from 1864.

Pinal County

Pinal County was established in 1875. The name was coined from the Pinal Peak. 

Santa Cruz County

Santa Cruz County was formed in 1899. It's name was coined from the Santa Cruz River.  

Yavapai County

Yavapai County is one of the original counties from 1864.

Yuma County

Yuma County is also one of the original counties from 1864.
